Butterfly Release Event

Every summer we hold a Butterfly Release event where children and families release a live butterfly in memory of their loved one, followed by a picnic lunch. Active, past, and new families attend.

Annual Butterfly Release Event

Join us for a heartwarming morning at Cahoon Memorial Park in Bay Village as we release live butterflies into the sky in loving memory of those who have died. This event is an opportunity to find community among peers who are also experiencing grief. Joel’s Place is founded on the belief that it is helpful and healing for grieving children and their families to share their experiences with other grieving children and families.

Our co-founders Mary Willhite and Kathy Stellato started this annual tradition in 2005.
